Being a fairly laid-back and open writer, I don't have much in the ways of major triggers or the like. My writing style is usually heavy on action, past tense style with an average of about 400 words give or take. Plot-wise, I'm up for literally anything. Hit me up with whatever you like! Feel free to contact me via PM or Discord DM, my inbox is/DMs are always open.

Public Knowledge
• Alec is quite tall (6'2) and all limbs, with a broad chest. His hair is a constant mop of wild curls, always in his eyes.

• He has always been a smart one, if a bit lazy in his youth. He could have gone to Carthak or the City of the Gods to become a Master. But what glory is there in that?

• He spent 9 years serving Tortall as a knight, and made a damn good one at that. Most people know it was a severe injury to his left leg that stole that future from him. How the injury happened changes though.

• He walks with a cane if it's for any real distance at all - a matter of embarrassment for him, though it's a necessity.

• Alec accepted a position as a proper Professor at the Royal University two years ago. He's a favourite among the teachers, especially for the cheekier students.

• He's never been married, though is supposedly quite the romantic at heart.

• For some reason, cats really like Alec. He's rarely seen without one somewhere in his vicinity anymore. He's supposedly named every feral or stray cat that calls the Palace home.
Skills & Education
• Early years were spent under the tutoring of King's Reach tutors and governesses, as well as lessons from the Men-At-Arms. His father also actively involved himself in Alec's training, as he did all his sons.

• Page and squire years taught Alec all the wholesome skills a knight of Tortall required. He excelled in War History and logistics, with a keen mind for numbers and algebra. Deportment he found boring if necessary. He was especially good at polearms as well, when it came to the physical training.

• Recent years have seen him taught well in education as a whole, especially in how to format lessons and engage others in learning. He works best with the younger students of the University.

Alec has Moderate Wild Magic with a distinct affinity for domestic cats. His magic allows him to understand them, if on a baser level than "speaking to him" - they can feed him emotions, ideas, mental images and the like that he then must translate. Most cats will name themselves for him, but that is where the Common language ends. He finds them incredibly persnickety, though he has his favourites. He's rarely seen without a cat in his presence, and his clothes are woefully overcome with cat fur more often than they should be.
Public vs. Private Persona
Alec is very much a "what you see is what you get" personality. Life has humbled him greatly over recent years and has made him realize that it serves him no purpose to pretend or put on airs for people that may barely know his name. He's honest, down to earth, blunt to the point of near rudeness at times - though he's quick to apologize if he offends. In years gone past, Alec had been one that was reckless and relentless, but being dealt a few hard blows in life - including being forced to put aside a life's dream - has forced him to slow down in every manner.

Now he lives one day at a time and doesn't much concern himself with courtly affairs or politics. He attends things for the pleasantries and good wine, but is more interested in merely living life rather than aiming for some obstinate ambition or goal. As a professor of the University, he tends to keep more scholarly company these days. Some of his old friends like to tease that he's turned into a spinster, complete with cats and all.
300 HE | Joren and Brienna of King's Reach successfully bear a son in the dead of winter, a boy with a mop of strawberry red hair like his mother. He's healthy and hungry, and the midwife gives the all clear.

304 HE | A young Alec gets shooed out of the nursery from his little sister due to the cats that are constantly chasing after him, high-tailed. The nurses fuss over the animals, but ultimately find it in vain to keep the boy from his "pets". At least they are all good mousers, the King's Reach manor hasn't had a vermin problem for a while now. They are also a staple to Alec's early lessons, keeping the boy focused as he works on his primers.

311 HE | A 10 year old Alec enters page training at last, despondent that he had to wait so terribly long after he turned 10 to begin. Boisterous, restless, and excited to reap the glories of being a knight of Tortall, he leaps into his lessons with blind ambition. He does surprisingly well, especially in the morning classes - Alec becomes a favourite of his algebra master's, and a frequent target for help from the other boys. The physical lessons of weaponry and horse riding come a bit slower, but he manages. He's lanky and gangly already, which doesn't help matters at all.

315 HE | After a few nerve-wracking months of nothing once declared a squire, Alec is taken on by another eastern-border Knight. For the next four years he is put to task by his knight master, who has a love of roving through the worst of the muck in the foulest of weather. It hardens Alec to the extremes however, and he learns valuable experience in surviving in any sort of weather.

319 HE | 12 days after turning 19, Alec faces his Ordeal. Being the third of a handful to go that year, he had the weight of seeing what became of his fellow yearmates to weigh on his shoulders. Within the Chamber he faced spiders as large as horses, the sensation of falling for what felt like hours with his stomach bottomed out, waters that were so dark and murky he couldn't tell what was possibly in them with him. He faced his family's disappointment, and never being good enough. He faced crippling injury. Hours later, the eldest son of King's Reach left the Chamber alive, if a little worse for wear.

328 HE | He could suppose the Chamber had warned him more literally than most 9 years earlier. Having spent the time since his Knighting roving the borders and going where needed lands Alec amid some of the heaviest fighting Tortall has seen in recent years - the coastline between Blue Harbor and the Scanran border had been getting battered by Scanran raiding ships. It's during a skirmish on land that Alec's horse is taken out under him. The fall crushes Alec between the ground and the horse, shattering his leg and numerous other bones. The leg goes ignored for more immediately lethal wounds, and by the time his life is at least saved, the leg is deemed ruined. Some bones are just broken too well to ever be properly put back together. It's fixed enough that he can put weight on it for a time, but Alec is left with a permanent limp and slow reflexes. He's promptly retired from active duty.

329 HE | For a year Alec is left in a state of depression, adrift now that his ideal life has been forced into stagnation. He has to walk with a cane if he wants to get anywhere further than a few strides, and while he can still ride, he hurts for days after an hour in the saddle. Ultimately he is convinced to use his mind over his body, and takes up a job assisting the Professor of War History in the new Royal University. It stirs a new passion in the man, and finally shakes him of his listlessness.

333 HE | After four and a half years serving as an assistant Professor, Alec is offered a more permanent position as a secondary Professor of War History - he's invited to take up a few extra classes alongside his tutor, which he gladly accepts. Since, he has taught his own class twice a year, and looks to continue doing so for as long as they allow him.
